Amid chants of ‘Har Har Mahadev’ and hundreds of devotees hurling ‘gulal’ in the air, the traditional ‘gauna’ of Baba Kashi Vishwanath took place on the occasion of ‘Rangbhari Ekadashi’ in Varanasi on Wednesday to mark the beginning of Holi celebrations in the temple city.

Kashi is incomplete without Baba Vishwanath. This is the reason that in the city of Mahadev itself from the beginning, any auspicious work including Holi also starts with `Baba`. Holi starts with colorful Ekadashi when Baba plays Gulaal with Abir. It is necessary to state here that `Baba` in Benaras calls Kashi Vishwanath, Lord Bholenath. Holi begins in Banaras with the arrival of Kashi for the first time as the goddess Gauri, who resides as Annapurna in Kashi, the city of the Great Goddess.
From this day, playing with colors begins in Kashi, which lasts for six consecutive days. According to mythological belief, on the day of the colorful Ekadashi, Lord Shiva came to Kashi for the first time after marrying Goddess Parvati. In this joy, the devotees of Lord Shiva started to celebrate color and happiness. Ekadashi date of Shukla Paksha of Falgun month is considered as colourful Ekadashi. This year, Ekadashi was on Wednesday (March 24, 2021) and Holi of the Mahashmashaan is on Thursday (March 25, 2021).
Holi is played on the second day of Ekadashi in Varanasi, the city of Baba Vishwanath. It is the most unique Holi in the world. It is believed that when Lord Shiva returns to Kashi on the day of Ekadashi with Mata Parvati and son Ganesha, having a gown, people of all the three worlds welcome them, but it has Shiva`s ghost-vampire devotees and visible invisible spirits present.

Therefore, on the second day of Ekadashi, Mahadev, the Lord of the Gods, plays Holi with his devotees at the Mahamashashan. This ash is not ordinary ash but is the ashes produced after burning a human body. Explain that Kashi is considered to be the city of salvation and here Baba Bholenath himself gives the Tarak mantra.
Hence death is also a festival here and on Holi, they try to get the blessings of Shiva with happiness-prosperity-splendour by throwing the devouring of Chita on each other like Abir and Gulal.

Speaking to reporters on the occasion, Mr Chodankar said,' Congress is receiving tremendous support from people and the joining of Mr Khandekar will send a strong message that people from vivid fields are interested to join Congress. Journalist fraternity has wider wisdom. Khandekar being from this field and having experience of 25 years knows how BJP has ruined Goa and also knows that Congress is coming to power
He claimed that people from Sanquelim constituency, represented by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, were expressing anger against the MLA and BJP government for doing nothin
“People from Sanquelim had aspirations that Pramod Sawant will do some development and create jobs. But he failed to do so and even couldn’t resume the mining operation, which was closed down by his boss and then chief Minister Manohar Parrikar. Development is missing in Sanquelim, hence people are searching for it. They have now built a mindset to defeat Pramod Sawant and BJP,” Chodankar sai
“Chief Minister Pramod Sawant is so insecure, that he has resorted to ‘dadagiri’ whenever a new leader starts the work in Sanquelim. But now there is a wave against him and definitely people of Sankhali will make him Laxmikant Parsekar,” the Congress leader claime
He said the defeat of Pramod Sawant’s supported candidate in the Sanquelim Municipal election had given a clear signal that he would be sent home in the next assembly electio
“Pramod Sawant is misusing his power to finish opposition, but he will not get success in it. Instead his political career will get finished very soon,” Mr Chodankar sai
Mr Khandekar said he felt proud to join Congress as it was a party having values of non-violence, truth, respect to democracy, respect to rights of people and taking people together on the way of progres
“Politicians should respect their voters, who push them to victory and take everyone together,” he sai
He claimed that economy of Goa had collapsed and unemployment was increasing and to overcome that there was need of a visio
Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Secretary Nilkant Gawas, Mr Khandekar had made inroads into Chief Minister’s stronghold Kudne and many BJP workers were joining congres
